PERSONALITY: Kazuki is an arrogant, stuck up brat. He's hard on everyone he meets and is quite antisocial, or rather, he lacks the desire to hold a conversation, although... When forced, he tends to become a bit confrontational. While he may come off as self-centered, he's not necessarily egotistical. It isn't that he thinks so highly of himself or even so low of others, but rather he just lacks interest as far as relationships of any kind go, and therefore, sees social interaction as a waste of effort. The cameras would show a different story, however. He's good about faking a smile for the public.

Despite the fact that he spends his life in the spotlight, Kazuki would be much more content lurking in the shadows. Because of this, he talks the least during personal interviews and is a very private person by nature. Of course, his “mysteriousness” is what the fangirls find most alluring about him.

BACKGROUND:
Row that boat, row it with your own hands
Don't entrust your oars to those
Who would rejoice when you are gone

A lot of people might consider Kazuki lucky for having such a glamorous job. That's not to say he isn't happy with it. In truth, he likes singing. He likes his band members. It was what he'd always wanted to do, ever since he was little.

Maybe it would have been more meaningful if his dad was still around to witness it.

Let's go back to that time. It was... oh, about ten years ago. That was when everything started getting just a little complicated. He was too young to really understand it then, but he could remember that his dad started changing. He never had time to listen to his songs anymore... In fact, there were days when he wouldn't see him. Days when he came home too late or not at all. His mother told him that his dad was working on a very important project, but that it'd be over soon.

Kazuki was a good child, so he did his best to understand and not to not pressure his father. He wouldn't even bother him with his “hellos” and “goodbyes.” Still, it's a little hard, especially at such an age, to keep believing that you matter to someone when they won't even look at you anymore. He didn't know it at the time, but his mother was feeling the same way.

One night, his dad returned home, albeit late. Kazuki remembered that there was a terrible storm that night, so he was unable to sleep. He heard the front door open, so he crawled out of bed to greet his father, but his dad ran past him, down to the basement, and came back with suitcases. He began frantically packing things, so Kazuki asked if he was going on a trip. “We're moving,” his dad responded in just as hurried a manner.

The rest of the night was a bit of a blur. His mother awoke, of course, and there was arguing. Lots of arguing amidst the flashes of lightning and crashes of thunder. His mother left ahead of them... Kazuki had expected that she'd gone on ahead, but days passed. They stayed at a hotel until finalizations on the apartment were made, but even once they were settling into the new place, his mother never returned. He asked his father about her, and he replied, “She's not coming back.”

He was too young to understand it, and too young to realize why. His father was changing, and while he could see it if he tried, he refused to believe there was anything wrong with his father. However, after that stormy night, the change became more drastic.

Days went by. Sometimes, Kazuki could hear his father crying at night. He was sure that his dad missed his mother. Kazuki did, too...

It was ironic, perhaps. On a day that seemed like any other, Kazuki had been scouted while doing the grocery shopping. The irony was that that was the best and worst day of his life. Business card in hand, he hurried home to tell his father the good news, but by the time he got there, it was too late.

His father was lying still, an empty bottle of some sort of medication beside him. That was the last thing he remembered, so he must have passed out from the shock. The next thing he knew, he was in a hospital and some doctors were trying to give him that serious conversation and asking him things like “Do you have any relatives you can stay with?”

The answer, of course, was a no. However, Kazuki was a resourceful little kid. He pulled out the business card and handed it to the doctor, telling him that was his uncle. Well, of course they were going to call and find out the truth, so Kazuki made sure to memorize the number before giving the card away, and as soon as the doctor left him alone, he ran to the nearest phone to try and explain his story to the man.

Call it luck. Call it fate. Call it idiocy, or whatever you want to, but the man agreed to take care of Kazuki, at least until his career progressed enough to where he could take care of himself.

Kazuki owed everything to that man, and he'll never forget it. Thanks to him, he was not only able to move on in life, but he was able to achieve his dream of becoming a singer. After years of training, Kazuki finally debuted with three other members in the group “1080.” The group has now being going strong and gaining popularity for about a year and a half, and as such, Kazuki's been able to fulfill his promise by moving out on his own.

A year and a half of the closest thing to normalcy Kazuki could hope for. He didn't realize how short a time it was until the New Year's Event.

Each year, his agency put on a special New Year's concert, complete with a musical countdown and everything. To say it was a big deal was quite the understatement. Well, everything was going well. The show was hard work, but worth the effort. And finally, midnight was nearing and the countdown began.

Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one...!

And silence.

Suddenly, Kazuki was alone in the darkness amidst an endless sea of coffins. The microphone slipped from his hands as he was forced to take in the sight which wouldn't leave him for a full hour. By the time it ended, everyone else continued like it never happened, but he had to be removed from the show. He was in a state of panic, but no one knew why.

Of course, being such a huge event, the story made it all over the news and he had countless interview opportunities about the incident, though he declined them all. The only statement he would release was that he “suddenly felt like he was someplace else.”

It was less than a week before the invitation to join S.E.E.S. arrived.
